Lawrence County boat owners take note: You will soon be able to purchase your boat license at the Lawrence County Clerk of Courts office.

Clerk of Courts Mike Patterson said Thursday personnel from the Ohio Division of Watercraft are making last minute preparations that will allow his office to begin selling 2010 boat tags, possibly as early as this week.

Right now, boat owners on the western end of the county must travel to Jim’s Gun Shop in Proctorville or to Scioto County to purchase tags.

“It won’t mean much money for our office. It’s more of a convenience for people on this end of the county,” Patterson said.

Patterson said he would like to arrange for boat inspections in the near future as well.

Meanwhile, Lawrence County Commissioner Les Boggs is reminding residents the free Caremark discount prescription drug cards are available at most pharmacies in the county.

The cards became available in September and allows the user to save a percentage on their prescription drugs.
