Two cars ahead of the bus crashed. A third car in trying to avoid the crash, swerved and hit one of the school buses, rupturing a tire. Both buses were able to pull to the side of the road.

The accident happened near the Huntington Mall exits. Crews from the school were being sent to the Interstate to fix the tire and assess the damage. The students, all seventh graders, were to return to the school.
