Russell teacher arrested after alleged incident with student

RUSSELL, Ky. — A Russell, Ky., school teacher has been arrested after an investigation into his alleged misconduct with a student.

Jason D. Chapman, 32, Ashland is charged with first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

The Kentucky State Police Post 14 in Ashland was alerted Dec. 6 about the alleged relationship between Chapman and a student in the Russell Independent School System.

According to information from the KSP, the relationship began in March 2009. . Chapman was arrested Jan. 12 at the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport by airport authorities and was lodged in the Boone County Detention Center. Additional charges will be presented to the grand jury for possible prosecution.
