Arson case headed to grand jury
The case of an Ironton woman accused of setting her duplex on fire will be heard by a Lawrence County Grand Jury.
Anita Edens, 45, of 1021 S. Sixth St., waived her right to a preliminary hearing Thursday in Ironton Municipal Court.
She was arrested Jan. 6 and charged with first-degree aggravated arson. She was taken to the Lawrence County Jail.
Authorities said Edens started a fire in her apartment that injured her husband. Although the fire was initially extinguished, it reignited a short time later and severely damaged the Edens’ apartment.
The other apartment in the building sustained moderate smoke and water damage. The tenants in the other unit escaped unharmed.
Edens remain in jail.
