CHESHIRE — Coach Ryan Davis thought his team played very hard at times Friday night.

A quick glance at the linescore should be a clue as to when they played hard.

Regardless of when they played, the Chesapeake Panthers dominated the River Valley Raiders 67-29 in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Chesapeake held River Valley to just one point in the first quarter and two in the third quarter.

“We played very hard in the first quarter, and we played hard in the third quarter and the first part of the fourth quarter before we put all our subs in,” said Davis.

Chesapeake improved to 5-3 overall and remained tied for first place in the OVC with South Point at 4-0.

Nathan Copley scored 18 points and Colin Kennedy 17 to lead the Panthers. Austin McMaster added 12 points — 6 in the fourth quarter.

Cody Smith had 10 points for River Valley.

Copley scored 7 points in the first quarter as Chesapeake jumped out to a 21-1 lead. The Panthers were up 33-12 at the half.

Kennedy had 10 points in the third quarter as the Panthers overwhelmed the Raiders 20-2 and extended their cushion to 53-14.
