McDERMOTT —Charles Eddie Cox, 66, of McDermott, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland.
The Clear Creek, W. Va., native was born April 28, 1943, the son of the late Charles Estill and Sophie Fields Cox. He is survived by his wife, Karen “Kay” Christine Peoples Cox, whom he married April 22, 1974.
Mr. Cox was a graduate of Washington schools and a U.S. Army veteran. He was also a former truck driver for the Pendleton Truck Sales and was a member of the DAV. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Victor Cox and Chris Bailey, Phillip and Kimberly Cox, all of Greenup, Ky., Anthony “Fatman” and Billie Cox, Kenneth and April Cox, all of McDermott, and Allen and Christina Cox of Lucasville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Charla Bazzell of Keyston Heights, Fla. and Marsha and Scott Jenkins of Pedro; eight brothers, William Cox, James Ershel Cox, Don Cox and Bobby Cox, all of Pedro, Lonnie Cox and Johnny Cox, both of Marion, Phillip Cox of Oak Hill and Ted Cox of Ironton; three sisters, Mary Harper and Linda Qualls, both of Pedro, and Adelene Wagner of Deering; and 21 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Furnace Cemetery. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
