KENOVA, W.Va. — A Marathon Petroleum LLC barge worker drown in the Ohio River early this morning.

The worker, who is 25 from Waterloo, was working to untie a barge from a tow boat when the accident happened.

“He was on a tow boat and it was basically untying it from the barge,” according to Matthew Sisco, of the Kenova Police Department. “One (line) was overlooked. As the tow boat pulled away, this gentleman noticed there was still one line. He ran up to it. The boat jerked and threw him overboard.”
