Cabell drug prevention summit set for Thursday

Huntington, W.Va. — The public is invited to attend the 4th Annual Cabell Drug Prevention Summit at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena Conference Center, Eighth Street and Third Avenue, in Huntington from 5:30-7 p.m. on Thursday.
Hosted by the Cabell County Substance Abuse Prevention Partnership, this year’s Cabell Drug Prevention Summit will focus on policies, practices and personal actions that can reduce and prevent prescription drug abuse. A distinguished panel of local experts will discuss many aspects of the issue of preventing prescription drug abuse. Panelists include:
Dr. Michael O’Neil, currently the director of the WV Controlled Substances Advisory Board and director of the Center of Excellence for Study & Prevention of Drug Diversion & Substance Abuse at the University of Charleston – School of Pharmacy;
Dr. Wayne Coombs, director of the WV Prevention Resource Center;
Chief Skip Holbrook, Huntington Police Department;
Judge Patricia Keller, Cabell County Family Court;
Senator Evan Jenkins, member of the Senate Committee on Health and Human Resources and executive director of WV State Medical Association;
Bob Hansen, Executive Director of the Prestera Center for Behavioral Health Services
Bill Webb, Oasis Behavioral Health Services
The 4th Annual Cabell Drug Prevention Summit is an opportunity for all members of the community to learn more about prescription drug abuse and how, as a community, we can work together to reduce this disturbing trend.
