COAL GROVE — Mrs. Betty Lou Dillon, 78, of Coal Grove, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at her home with her family surrounding her.
She was born April 21, 1931 in Ironton the daughter of the late Carl and Virgie Lewis Bishop. She was co-owner of Dillon’s Little Giant grocery store. Betty enjoyed reading Danielle Steele novels, traveling and taking cruises, the theater, and loved spending time with her family as well.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, George Clay Dillon, Jr.; a son, George C. Dillon, III.; a sister, Phyllis Bryant and two brothers, June and Gary Bishop.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Carol Dillon of Bradenton, Fla., and Rod and Sharon Dillon of Deering; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Steve Layne of Deering; a sister, Barb and Bob Murnahan of Ironton; a brother, Ronnie Bishop of Coal Grove; a sister-in-law, Gladys Grove of Deering; an aunt, Alberta Wilson of Ironton and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Dillon of Coal Grove. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christy Faulkner and her children, Ashley and Amber Abrams and Lexy Zornes, Tiffany Dillon and her son Will, Tania (Steve) Carey and their children, Dylan and Grant, Travis (Amanda) Layne and their son, Austin, Tara (Ronnie) Gunther and their children, Ty, Tori, and Mason, Melissa (Todd) York and their children, Emily and Will, Teresa (Jim) Stormes, Rod Dillon, Jr., Matthew Dillon, Tyler Dillon, Brittany Dillon; one great-great grandchild, Asher Abrams; her beloved pet, Prissy and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Beals officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Friends may call 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
