Lady Bobcats play well despite setback

FRANKLIN FURNACE — There’s a “W” column and an “L” column for teams, but the Green Lady Bobcats would like to add a third column.
Despite losing Monday, the Lady Bobcats gave a strong performance as they lost to the South Webster Lady Jeeps 68-59.
“We showed a lot of heart. I was proud of our effort. We got a moral victory if there is such a thing,” said Green coach Bucky Bridges. “It was fun to watch Cook and Adrianne going at it all night.”
South Webster’s Kayla Cook scored 30 points while Green’s Adrianne Blankenship had 19 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 steals.
Lauren Jones had 18 points and Carlee Pollard 8 rebounds for Green (6-7).
Besides Cook, Casey Messer scored 19 points for the Lady Jeeps.
Messer scored 10 for the Lady Jeeps who took a 15-10 lead. Jones scored 6for Green.
Jones and Blankenship combined for 11 points but Cook poured in 13 points in the quarter as the lead grew to 36-24.
Hannah Collett came off the bench to score 5 points and the defense held Cooke scoreless in the quarter as Green closed to within 42-40.
Blankenship had 7 points in the fourth quarter, but Cook hit a pair of 3-pointers and was 8-of- 8 from the line.
