HANGING ROCK — Linda Mae Early, 62, of Hanging Rock, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth.
The Ironton native was born May 15, 1947, the daughter of the late Brooks and Bertha Mae Steele Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Early, whom she married June 15, 1988.
Mrs. Early attended Rock Hill School and was a homemaker. She was a former nurse’s aide at the Lawrence County General Hospital, the Galion Community Hospital and several nursing homes for more than 23 years and was a member of the Hensley Hollow Pentecostal Church of Christ in Flatwoods, Ky. She enjoyed her family and church.
Although she had no children of her own, she was like a mother and grandmother to her siblings and nieces and nephews. She was affectionately known as Granny Linda to her special great niece, Alexis Justice.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Dunlap and Mary Johnson.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four brothers, Johnnie (Agnes) Johnson of North Ridgeville, Roy Johnson of Cleveland, Phillip (Betty) Johnson of Galion and David (Rosalie) Johnson of Gurley, Ala.; six sisters, Jean (Bill) Seabolt of Tarpan Springs, Fla., Sharon Jenkins of Coal Grove, Kathy (David) Fahrer of Mt. Sterling, Ky., Pamela (Brian Bowman) Taylor of Sciotoville, Lu (Johnny) Justice of Hanging Rock and Cindy (Cris) Chaney of Kitts Hill.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Haverhill Cemetery. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Bill Jenkins, Scott Jenkins, Greg Jenkins, Joe Sharp, Kenneth Tanner, and Kyle Tanner.
