Vinnie Imogene Willis, 78 of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at her residence.
The Logan, W.Va., native was born Aug. 2, 1931, the daughter of the late James Ellison and Martha Estep Pauley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Victor Willis.
Mrs. Willis was a graduate of Logan High School and was a 51-year member of the Hanging Rock Church of the Nazarene, where she served as Sunday cchool teacher, led Bible studies and sang in the choir. She was also a missionary president, enjoyed reading and writing poetry and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Diane Jenkins; four sisters, Helen Crum, Adena Pack, Nina Mullins and Merle Mayhew; and five brothers: Eldon Pauley, Leroy Pauley, Terry Pauley, Kenny Pauley, and Ray Pauley.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Jami Willis of Deering; two daughters and a son-in-law, Katherine Willis of Ironton and Kimberly and Michael Hall of Pine Grove and a son-in-law, Wendell Jenkins of Ironton. She was the proud grandmother of Zachary Jenkins of Ironton, Morgan Willis and Shae Willis, both of Deering, Cheyenne Hall and Cherokee Hall, both of Pine Grove. She is also survived by two sisters, Betty Cooper of Marion and Patsy Jones of Haverhill; and two brothers, Willie Pauley of Florida and Dennis Pauley of Mississippi.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Hanging Rock Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Clell Elliott and Pastor Rob Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home and the body will lie in state one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
