A woman who admitted she had sex with a 13-year-old boy will have to register as a sex offender for the next 25 years, a Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge said Wednesday.

Virginia McCoy, 27, of 86 Private Drive 8700, Proctorville, pleaded guilty late last month to unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

She was sentenced to three years in prison. Although court documents specified McCoy is now required to register as a sex offender, Judge Charles Cooper said he wanted it included as part of the official court record.

McCoy must register for 25 years. Likewise her partner, Jesse Scarberry, who last week pleaded guilty to complicity to unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, must also register as a sex offender for the same amount of time.

Scarberry, 33, of the same address, told authorities he arranged for McCoy and his 13-year-old son to be together to teach the boy how to have sex. The child is now living with grandparents.

In another case Wednesday, Larry J. Keaton, 38, of Corbin, Ky., pleaded guilty to three counts of criminal non-support.

Cooper sentenced Keaton to four years community control sanctions, otherwise known as probation, ordered him to pay his court costs and make $500 monthly child support payments.

Assistant Lawrence County Prosecutor Jeff Smith said at one time Keaton owed $72,500 for the care of three children.

He had recently made a $10,000 payment toward that amount.
