IRONTON — M. Douglas Thompson, a local historian, has created a visual display entitled “Lawrence County Remembrance.” His work is currently on display at the Ironton branch of Briggs Lawrence County Public Library.

Thompson has become well known for his education workshop featuring photographs from the Tri-state’s past. The display includes some of the photographs from the workshop.

Visitors of the library’s display will be surprised by the number of people, businesses, and events that are linked to Lawrence County.

Al Capone, Bob Hope and Aunt Jemima are just a few celebrities who grace the display boards.

“I was surprised about how many facts about Lawrence County featured in the Thompson display that I have never heard,” said Lori Shafer, adult services librarian and local author.

“My favorite event (from the display) has to be the squirrel invasion.”

The Thompson display is located in the reading section of the Ironton Branch Library and will continue to be on display until March 10.
