‘Girls’ Night Out’ set for Feb. 24

ASHLAND, Ky. — This month’s Girls’ Night Out program at Boyd County Public Library features “The Time Traveler’s Wife.”

The Feb. 24 program starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Main Branch, 1740 Central Ave. Entry to Girls’ Night Out is a food dish to share, or $2. All funds collected go to purchase refreshments for the program.

The movie, rated PG-13, is a romantic drama about a Chicago librarian with a gene that causes him to involuntarily time travel, and the complications is creates for his marriage. It is based on the bestselling 2003 debut novel by Audrey Niffenegger.

Girls’ Night Out takes place on the last Wednesday of each month. Men are welcome to attend, but the Girls Night Out program is not intended for children. The March GNO selection is “Couples Retreat.”

South Point native graduates Marine’s recruit training

PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. — Brandon Guy, a 2009 graduate of Rock Hill High School, recently graduated recruit training from Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. on Jan. 15.

Guy was recently home for 10 days enjoying leave in his hometown of South Point.

While at Parris Island, Guy received instruction on Marine Corps history, weapons familiarization, martial arts, physical fitness, and leadership/management skills.

Guy’s current assignment is Marine combat training, located in Camp Lejeune, NC.

Upon completion, Guy will be attending his military occupational school in the field of supply and accounting.

Guy joined the Marine Corps to be a part of the world’s most elite team and to fulfill his life goals.

Charlie’s Harley-Davidson wins top powersports award

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. —Charlie’s Harley-Davidson was selected as one of the top 10 powersport retailers in the country as part of the annual Dealernews Top 100 competition. Charlie’s was one of the 10 highest-scoring dealerships for 2010 competition.

In January, Dealernews, the premier business information resource for North American powersports retailers, released their Top 100 powersports retailers for 2010.

On Feb. 12, Dealernews held its invitation-only awards reception in Indianapolis, where the 2010 Dealer of the Year and Merit Award winners were revealed.
