MERRAVONNE DAVIS HANKINS

Merravonne Jean Davis Hankins, 81, of Ironton, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Columbus native was born Jan. 14, 1929, the daughter of the late Leonard and Florence Chinn Service. She is survived by her husband, Carl E. Hankins, whom she married Aug. 19, 1975.
Mrs. Hankins was a graduate of Columbus High School. She was on the Strikette League at Blue Ribbon Lanes, a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a grandson, Billy James Stapleton.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Sheila White of Franklin Furnace and Jean Stapleton of Ironton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Junie Davis and Terry and Mimi Davis all of Indiana; three stepsons, Greg Hankins of North Carolina, Gary Hankins and Rick Hankins both of Tampa, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, with Minister Jimmy Kimble officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery.
