Jailer indicted for sex with inmate

ASHLAND, Ky. (AP) — A federal grand jury has indicted a Carter County deputy jailer on one count of sexual abuse of an inmate.

A news release from the U.S. Attorney’s office says the grand jury in Ashland indicted 43-year-old Keith D. Hollingsworth of Olive Hill on one count of sexual abuse of a ward and one count of deprivation of rights under color of law.

The release says the indictment alleges that in December of 2005, Hollingsworth engaged in sexual acts with an inmate at the Carter County Detention Center.

A court date has not been set.

Hospice offers grief counseling

The Community Hospice Bereavement Department will offer several community-based grief counseling sessions in March.

All Community Hospice grief support groups are open to the public, not just those who have been served by hospice. Anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one is encouraged to attend.

The sessions are as follows:

Embracing Our Grief

Thursdays, March 11 to April 15 – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at First Christian Church, South Shore, Ky.

Monthly Support Group

Second Tuesday of each month – March 9 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Community Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, Ky.

Parents who have Lost Children

Bi-Monthly on the first and third Tuesdays of each month

Tuesday, March 2 and March 16 – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Community Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, Ky.

Group topics vary from week to week, but generally offer participants the opportunity to talk about their loss, understand the grieving process and the cycles of grief, spend time with others who have experienced similar situations, and receive guidance in handling other personal matters.

RCBI receives re-accreditation

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Machinist Technology Program offered by the Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI) at its Advanced Manufacturing Technology Centers in Bridgeport and Rocket Center has received re-accreditation from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

This five-year re-certification for the training at Bridgeport and Rocket Center is valid until Feb. 25, 2015.
