Mrs. Ruby Kathleen Murphy, 82, of Ironton, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010.
She was born April 7, 1927, in Ironton, the daughter of the late Andrew and Fannie Saunders Kizzee.
She retired in 1975 from the Department of Human Services after 35 years. Kathleen attended Lombard Grade School and was a 1945 graduate of Ironton High School. She was deeply devoted to her family and friends.
Kathleen was active in the First Church of the Nazarene. She loved to travel and be in the middle of almost any activity. She also was precinct chairperson for the Democrat Party.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Murphy, whom she married in April of 1950 and who later passed away in August of 1950; and brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Wanda Kizzee.
She is survived by one brother. Phillip Wendell (Vivian) Kizzee, their children, Kathy (Michael) Pelley, Phil (Brenda) Kizzee, and Joy (Alan) DeVries; the children of deceased brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Wanda, Debbie (Bill) Gilmore, Linda Kizzee, and Susan (Bob) Faulkner; great nieces, Danielle Gilmore, Joanna, Grace, and Ruby Pelley; and great nephews, Benjamin (Beth) Gilmore, Brandon (Sasha) Fields, Andy (Susan) Kizzee, Austin Kizzee, Michael and Matthew Middleton.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Hale officiating. Interment will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Kentucky.
A visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
