SOUTH POINT — Buford “Bud” J. Taylor, 79, of South Point, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Tutor Key, Ky., native was born March 20, 1931, the son of the late Buford and Nella Vanhoose Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Edith Neal Taylor, whom he married July 15, 1950.
Bud attended Johnson County, Ky., and Cadmus, Ohio schools. He was an employee of the Ironton Coke Plant for 23 years and retired in 1994, after 10 years of service for the City of Columbus Municipal Electric Plant where he was a maintenance supervisor. He was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ruth and John Childers and Anna and Charles Bonice; and his sisters-in-law, Betty Taylor and Francis Taylor.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Lou Taylor of Ashland, Ky., and Linda and Don Malone of Ironton; two grandsons and their wives, David and Carol Malone and Chris and Tish Malone all of Kitts Hill; a sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Leeman Shepherd of Willow Wood; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Carl Taylor of Kitts Hill, Leo and Karen Taylor of Alto Loma, Calif., Doug Taylor of Gallipolis, and Charles and Diane Taylor of West Richland, Wash.; and seven great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Olive Cemetery in Gallia County (Walnut Township) with the Rev. William Moore officiating. Friends may call noon-1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home.
