FRANKLIN FURNACE — It took a while for the Symmes Valley offense to get going. Fortunately, pitcher Kris Tibbs wouldn’t let Green’s offense ever get started.

Tibbs scattered seven hits as he stymied the Green offense as the Vikings posted a 6-1 Southern Ohio Conference win Wednesday.

“Tibbs threw the ball well. Green has a pretty good team, so he did a good job keeping them in check,” said Vikings’ coach Chad Renfroe.

The Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Evan Herrell walked, stole second and scored on Luke Taylor’s base hit.

Symmes Valley went up 2-1 in the fourth on a hit by Tibbs after Jacob Patterson singled and stole second base.

Green got within 2-1 in the fifth when Billy Moore singled, Jayson Meenach walked and Matt Ratcliff had an RBI single.

The Vikings finally got their offense in gear with four runs in the sixth.

Cory Brown was hit by a pitch, Cody Myers walked, Tyler Easthom was hit by a pitch and Taylor walked to force in a run. Patterson followed with a two-run single and Taylor scored on the throw when Patterson stole second.
