PEDRO — Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. This time they did.

Maybe the Rock Hill Redmen don’t do things right all of the time, but they did them at the right times Monday in a 4-3 Ohio Valley Conference win over the South Point Pointers.

“There were times we didn’t execute, but when it counted we came through,” said Rock Hill coach Barry Litteral. “When it came down to it, we got it done.”

Rock Hill (5-4,3-1) got it done right in the top of the seventh inning to snap a tied game.

Josh Malone singled to start the winning rally and moved to second base an out later when Jeremy Blagg walked. Cody Massie hit into a force out at third base but the relay throw to first base got loose for an error allowing Blagg to score.

South Point loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but Malone came on in relief and struck out the final two batters to end the game.

Rock Hill took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a leadoff home run by Massie.

The lead went to 3-0 in the fourth inning.

Jonathan Schob was hit by a pitch, Devin Darby reached on an error, and Matt Jenkins had an RBI single.

Drew Kidd put down a sacrifice bunt and Darby scored on an error.

South Point got within 3-1 in the fifth inning When Cody Taylor doubled and scored when he stole third base and the throw went into left field.

The Pointers tied the game in the sixth inning.

Blake Meadows and Steven Adkins singled. They moved up on a wild pitch and scored on a two-run double by Dickess.

Darby got the win in relief with Malone getting the save. Adkins suffered the loss.

Kidd went 2-2 and Malone 2-3 to lead the Redmen. Adkins was 2-4 for the Pointers.

“We’re still not hitting as a team. We have to get everyone on track,” said Litteral.
