SV girls bounce back big

AID — What a difference a day makes.

After getting just four hits on Monday and scoring two runs, the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings had nine hits and routed the Green Lady Bobcats 13-3 in five innings Tuesday.

“The kids rebounded and played real well,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

Nikki Nance pitched a 4-hitter and went 2-3 at the plate. Brooke Skinner was 2-2 as the Lady Vikings improved to 8-2 on the season and 5-1 in the Southern Ohio Conference.

Green went ahead 1-0 to start the game as Lauren Jones reach on an error, moved up on a wild pitch and scored on a hit by Sammi Crisp.

But the Lady Vikings scored five runs in the bottom of the inning and eight more in the second inning to blow the game wide open.

In the bottom of the first Nance singled, stole second and third, Skinner walked and a wild pitch scored Nance.

Jessie Morris singled home two runs, Kayla Ross singled in another run and she later scored on a wild pitch.

Nance reached on a dropped third strike to start the second inning uprising.

Skinner singled and Chelsea Wall hit into a fielder’s choice as a run scored. Morris was safe on an error and a wild pitch scored a run.

Ross hit a sacrifice fly and Brianna Foster doubled home two runs. Chelsea Keathley singled for a run and came home on an error and two wild pitches.

Erica Corn singled and Nance doubled for a run, Skinner singled and a wild pitch sent home the final run.

Symmes Valley visits Sciotoville East Thursday.
