EMERY FIELDS

Emery E. Fields, 77, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born Nov. 2, 1932, the son of Garnet Bowman Fields of Ironton and the late Emory S. Fields. He is also survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce E. Frost Fields, whom he married April 9, 1955.
Mr. Fields was a 1951 graduate of Windsor High School and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He retired in 1995, after 35 years of service as a security guard with Armco Steel. He was a Mason, a member of the Elks, the American Legion in Flatwoods, Kentucky and enjoyed working on cars and doing carpentry. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be sadly missed.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by a son, Dean F. Fields of Ironton; daughter, Deborah Fields of Ironton; two grandchildren, Danielle Fields and Dean Joshua Fields, both of Ironton; three great grandchildren, Tristan, Nevaeh, and Lacey; two brothers, Lawrence Fields and Jack Fields. both of Kitts Hill; a sister, Louise Wright of Ironton; and special friends, Carol and Steve Wierenga of Ironton.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Martin Gute officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Military graveside rites by VFW Post 8850.
