PORTSMOUTH — Karlie Collins didn’t get a hit, but then she didn’t give the Portsmouth Lady Trojans too many, either.

Collins fired a two-hitter as the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers beat Portsmouth 9-1 Wednesday in a Southeastern Ohio Athletic League game.

Collins struck out six and walked two in the complete game win.

While Collins was proving stingy with her pitching, Ironton banged out 13 hits led by Emily Lilly, Nikki Elswick, Alex Taylor and Karlee McMackin who each went 2-4 while Brea Tackett was 2-3.

Eight different players got hits for Ironton who improved to 8-3 on the season and 5-1 in the SEOAL.

Ironton plays a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at Gallipolis in a showdown for first place in the SEOAL South Division. Both teams are 5-1 in the SEOAL South Division.

On Tuesday, South Webster used a six-run third inning to get past the Lady Tigers 6-2.

Ironton had five hits as Taylor Lilly, Emily Lilly, Rebekkah Potter, Collins and Taylor all had base hits.

Taylor and Emily Lilly each had doubles.

Kylie Summers started and took the loss for Ironton. Potter pitched well in relief as she struck out five and walked two in 4.2 innings of work.
