Fighting Tigers juggle tennis lineup

CHILLICOTHE — The absence of Andrew Hicks from the lineup caused the entire lineup to move.

Ironton’s No.1 singles player Andrew Hicks was missing last week, thus forcing everyone else to move up a spot on the tennis matchups. Those changes led to a 5-0 loss to the Chillicothe Cavaliers Monday.

Aaron Pettiford drew the number one assignment and lost to John Lods 0-6, 0-6. Brennan Banks fell to Gabe Seymour 1-6, 2-6 and Jordan Sheridan was beaten by Grant markley 0-6. 0-6.

In doubles play, Ryan Sias and Devin Karnes lost to Tyler Allen and Justin Ball 1-6, 0-6 while Schylar Fields and Kylie Thomas suffered a 2-6, 2-6 loss to Dallin Patino and Luke Wagner.

In an exhibition match, Nathan Hale lost 6-8.

The Fighting Tigers adjusted to the new lineup and bounced back on Tuesday with a 4-1 win over Portsmouth Clay.

Pettiford lost to Drew White 6-7 (3-7), 5-7, but Banks toppled Linus Singer 6-4, 6-1 and Sheridan downed A.J. Keaton 6-7 (7-9), 6-2, 10-8.

In doubles, Sias and Karnes beat Miles McCroskey and Jacob Harris by identical 6-1, 6-1 scores. Fields and Thomas beat Nick Harris and Eric Manninen 6-2, 6-1.

In an exhibition match, Hale lost a tough match 2-6, 6-4, 5-7.
