A linescore consists of runs, hits and errors. The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings and Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers had plenty of all three.

The two teams combined for 18 runs, 19 hits and 12 errors as the Lady Vikings won the slugfest 10-8 Wednesday.

“We both hit the ball well, but on the defensive side it was ugly both ways,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

Brooke Skinner went 3-3 with two triples and Jessie Morris was 3-5 with a double to lead the Lady Vikings nine-hit attack. Erica Corn was 2-4 with a double.

Ironton had 10 hits with Alex Taylor going 3-4 with a double. Emily Lilly and Taylor Lilly both end 2-4.

The Lady Vikings jumped ahead 4-0 in the first inning. Morris singled and Skinner tripled her home. Corn had an RBI double, Kayla Ross and RBI single and two throwing errors allowed her to score.

It was 5-0 in the top of the second when Chelsea Keathley walked, Morris doubled and Skinner reached on an error.

Ironton answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning.

Emily Lilly singled, Karlee McMackin was safe on an error, Karlie Collins walked and Taylor and Janie Morris followed with 2-run singles.

Symmes Valley got four more runs in the fourth to go up 9-4.

Morris singled and Skinner tripled for the first run. After a passed ball scored Skinner, Wall walked and Corn and Ross both reached on errors.

Ironton got a run in the bottom of the inning as Taylor doubled, Amy McSorley walks and Taylor Lilly had a run-scoring single.

The Lady Vikings added a run in the sixth when Skinner singled, Wall walked and Corn singled.

The Lady Tigers cut the deficit to 10-8 with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Taylor doubled, Shannon Thompson singled and Morris reached on an error for a run. Taylor Lilly singled in a run and Emily Lilly was safe on an error as two runs scored.
