Sylvia M. Arbaugh, 91 of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at a local health care center.
The Lawrence County native was born Sept.7, 1918, the daughter of the late George and Sarah Massie Ashworth. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alva Arbaugh.
Mrs. Arbaugh attended school in Cadmus and was a former employee of National Cash Register in Dayton and Sunshine Bakery in Ironton. She was a member of Woodland Chapel Church.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Lee Arbaugh; eight sisters, Odesa Fox, Estella Wiseman, Lotus Horner, Erma Ashworth, Gladys Ashworth, Emma Donagun, Verna Hannabury, and Ruby Todd and four brothers, Pete Ashworth, Vincent Ashworth, George Ashworth and Burl Ashworth.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Gary Arbaugh and his wife, Patti of South Point and Lori Arbaugh and her husband, Keith Harvey of Pedro; four great grandchildren, Gary E. and Mary Arbaugh, William J. Arbaugh, Nikki Arbaugh, and Chris and Ashley Hamm and six great great grandchildren, Skylar Arbaugh, Lenux Payton, Riley Arbaugh, Averianna Arbaugh, Nolan Hamm, and Izayah Conroy and a brother, Fred Ashworth.
Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Etna Cemetery with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. There will be no public visitation. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
