MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Hazel Clotine Lavender, 85, of Myrtle Beach, formerly of Ironton, passed away at her residence on Saturday, May 1, 2010. She was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Lawrence County, the daughter of the late Charles and Nelly Barker Stapleton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lavender Sr.; two brothers, Glen and Jim Stapleton; and two sisters, Thelma Otworth and Mildred Blevins.
She is survived by two sons, Carl (Nancy) Lavender of Myrtle Beach, and Charles Richard (Marilyn) Lavender of Myrtle Beach; one grandson, Richard Phillips Lavender of Wilson, N.C.; two step great grandchildren, Jeremiah Tims and Amanda Tims; one great-great grandson, Sage Tims; two brothers, William (Marcella) Everett Stapleton of Flatwoods, Ky., and Edward H. Stapleton of Ironton; three sisters, Helen (Jerry) Gollihugh of Ironton, Juanita Williams of Ironton and Pauline Brown of Ironton; and one niece, Mary Blevins of Ironton.
A graveside service will be at noon Friday at Woodland Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Arthurs officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home.
