FRANKLIN FURNACE — In this case, it was the Rock Hill Redmen who fed off the bottom feeders.

The bottom of the Rock Hill lineup did most of the damage with seven of their 12 hits in a 10-4 win over the Green Bobcats Friday.

“The 6-7-8-9 batters were 7-for-16. I’ll take that,” said Rock Hill coach Barry Litteral.

“We need to play better defensively and we need to keep hitting the ball. Pitching-wise we’re doing fine.”

Jared Bruce went four innings to get the win and Jonathan Schob finished up for the save as Rock Hill improved to 13-8.

Bruce gave up two hits, struck out five, walked three and allowed one earned run. Schob gave up two hits, fanned five, walked one and the two runs he allowed were unearned.

Green took a 1-0 lead when Billy Moore walked, stole second and scored on hits by Tyler Hughes and Caleb Lewis.

Rock Hill took a 2-1 lead in the third inning.

Josh Malone reached on an error, stole second and third, and scored on a throwing error.

Drew Kidd and Devin Darby walked and Cody Massie had an RBI single.

The lead went to 3-1 in the fourth when Chris Donahue was safe on an error, Alex Bare and Malone singled then Kidd reached on an error.

Rock Hill blew the game open with five runs in the fifth.

Massie doubled to start the inning and Jeremy Blagg singled pinch-runner Laden Delawder to third. Schob walked to load the bases. Shane Russell singled as all three runs scored and Russell went to third on the play. Russell scored on a wild pitch.

Donahue and Bare followed with singles and an error allowed Donahue to score.

The Bobcats got within 8-3 in the bottom of the inning.

Robbie Applegate singled, Hughes and Matt Ratcliff each reached on an error, and after a force out at home, T.J. McCloud was safe on an error as two runs scored.

Rock Hill added two insurance runs in the seventh.
