WEST PORTSMOUTH — Hmmm, we’re all shook up.

The Fairland Lady Dragons shook up their lineup and then shook things up on the field as they split two games Saturday in the Portsmouth West Tournament as they beat the host Lady Senators 3-0 only to lose 8-1 to Northwest.

“We switched our lineup and our defense and we found a few things we liked,” said Fairland coach Joe Auxier.

One thing Fairland liked was the pitching of Sashe Burcham in the first game as she fired a one-hitter. Burcham struck out 10 and did not walk a batter as she faced the minimum of 18 batters.

Christin Graf got the only hit for West when she singled to lead off the first inning.

Fairland got a run in the third inning when Jaimie Phillips walked and Haley Woodall doubled.

The Lady Dragons added two insurance runs in the sixth.

Woodall walked and Keri Pinkerman and Burcham singled for a run. Keri Napier hit into a fielder’s choice as a run scored.

In the second game, Fairland out-hit Northwest 7-4 but had five errors.

The Lady Dragons only run came in the fifth inning.

Phillips reached on an error, Woodall was safe on a fielder’s choice and Keri Pinkerman was safe on an error and a run scored.

Fairland (11-13) visits River Valley on Wednesday.
