ARGILLITE, Ky. — They’re off to a good start.

Behind the play of Brent Morgan, the Coal Grove Junior Hornets first-ever golf team finished as the district runners-up at River Bend Golf Club Monday.

“This is our first junior high golf team and we’re trying to build our program up and we are hopeful of starting a high school team next season,” said Junior Hornets’ coach Danny Morgan.

“Our junior high team is young and we will have everybody back nexst year as eighth graders.”

Brent Morgan, son of the head coach, came away as the district medalist by winning in a three-hole sudden death playoff.

Besides Morgan, Tori Holmes shot a 63, Brandon Adkins 64, Jacob Clark 65 and Jacob Myers 68.
