The seniors went out winners.

The Ironton Fighting Tigers’ senior tennis team members closed out their home careers with a 5-0 win over the Portsmouth West Senators Thursday.

Seniors Arron Pettiford and Ryan Sias celebrated their night with wins. Pettiford beat Andy Sparks 6-4, 6-4 in No. 2 singles play while Sias teamed with Devin Karnes in No. 1 doubles play to beat Derik Adkins and Kyle Locher 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

No. 1 singles player Andrew Hicks beat West’s Zach Johnson 6-0, 6-1 and No. 3 man Brennan Banks topped Daniel Thompson by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.

In the No. 2 doubles match, Schylar Fields and Jordan Sheridan topped Haley Sparks and Brittney Cox 6-3, 6-2.

Ironton plays in the sectional tournament at 9 a.m. Thursday with doubles at Portsmouth High School and singles at Shawnee Sate University.
