A 16-year-old from Proctorville has been cited by the Ohio State Highway Patrol after a two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon.
The youth was driving a 1997 Dodge Avenger when the car rear-ended a Fairland school bus transporting two students and an aide. The accident happened on County Road 70 in Rome Township at 3:45 p.m.
The car was coming around a curve when it hit the bus, according to investigating officer, Trooper Kevin Kobi of the Patrol.
There was significant damage to the Dodge Avenger, but only minor damage to the bus. However, the children and the aide were transferred to another bus.
The juvenile was cited for failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead, Kobi said.
There were no injuries reported.
