LUCASVILLE — Good pitching met good hitting.

The hitting won.

“(Ryan) Hackworth threw well. He picked off two runners. They just hit good pitches,” said Rock Hill coach Barry Litteral.

“The game was 3-2 at the end of four and 6-2 at the end of five and we’re still in the ball game but they just started hitting the ball.”

Rock Hill took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Drew Kidd, Devin Darby, Cody Massie and Jeremy Blagg drew four straight walks.

Blagg was 2-2 with a double.

Valley tied the game in the bottom of the first inning but the Redmen went ahead 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning on a one-out solo home run by Matt Jenkins.

However, Valley took a 3-2 lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning and added three more in the fifth to lead 6-3.

The Indians blew the game open with five runs in the sixth inning.

Rock Hill ends the season 14-9.

“I’m proud of my kids. They never quit. We just didn’t have enough hits or baserunners,” said Litteral. “We had a good year. We had a lot of support from the fans and we appreciate that.”

Valley is now 18-5.
