Authorities said the couple was apparently arguing over a vehicle when Elswick reportedly tried to drive off in the 1996 red Honda Passport.

Murphy allegedly threw herself on the hood of the car but was thrown off of it. Authorities said it is believed the car belongs to Murphy.

“That’s what we’re discussing now,” Ironton Police Detective Chris Bowman said. “The car is registered in her name. All indications point to that but we’ve been unable to speak with her.”

The incident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Friday.
