Marjorie Daphna Ashley, 88, of Olde Farm, South Point, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, as she was surrounded by her loved ones, on Friday afternoon, the 21st day of May, 2010, from the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
Marjorie was born on the 9th day of March, 1922, in Anneta, K., the daughter of Eddy Ashley and Dora Schultz Ashley Newton.
Margie graduated with the Class of 1940 at Roosevelt High School in Dayton, and graduated college in Los Angeles, California, where she was an honor student, member of Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Being a successful business executive, Margie worked in Los Angeles, Calif., Clinton, Iowa, spent 15 months in Iran, and settled in South Point, at Rollyson’s. After retirement, she went on to manage the H & R Block in Ironton, and after ten (10) years of service with Block, retired at age 75.
She was baptized Oct. 12, 1975, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Clinton, Iowa, and was a member of the Ironton Congregation of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her father, Eddy Ashley Oct. 8, 1937, her step-father, Charles Newton, June 3, 1976, and by her beloved mother, Dora S. Newton Aug. 23, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her beloved cousin Dorothy Pfeiffer of Elizabethtown, Ky., April 2, 2010, and cousins William Blair, Lynn Blair, Jack Blair, Matthew Blair, Patrick Blair, Carl Blair, David Simmons, and Helen Simmons.
She is survived by Chris Hampton Destocki of Ironton; Nathaniel J. DeLong of South Point, Ohio; and her loving caregiver, Beverly K. Hewitt of Ironton, Ohio; She is also survived by several cousins, Carmen B. Lipschutz of Louisville, Ky; Inez B. Keplinger of Elizabethtown, Ky; Susan Pfeiffer and Anna Jo Wenchell of Elizabethtown, Ky; Ed Pfeiffer of Waterloo, IL; Dot Tibbits of Lexington, Ky; Tammy Blair of Louisville, Ky; Bob Blair, William, Blair, Jim Blair, Tom Blair, Douglas Simmons, Margaret Simmons, Gracella Simmons, Michael Blair, and Timothy Blair, and the children of those listed.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m.Tuesday at Central Christian Church Chapel with the Rev. Brent Baker officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Graveside service at Forest Hills Cemetery, 11890 North Dixie Drive, Tipp City, Ohio, will follow the Ironton Services with Pastor Gilbert Santiago officiating.

The family has entrusted her care to Brown Funeral Chapel.
