Nina Jane Saunders, 76, of Ironton, went home to be with Our Lord Friday, May 21, 2010.
The Lawrence County native was born March 22, 1934, the daughter of late Ralph and Mildred Bennett Saunders. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and retired in 2004 from Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky., where she worked as a billing clerk.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn, Bernard and Don Saunders; a sister-in-law, Margie Saunders and a nephew, Ben Saunders.
She is survived by one brother, Dale Saunders of Ironton; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Saunders and Gerrie Saunders, both of Ironton and Joyce Saunders of Baton Rouge, La. Also surviving are nieces Kathy Price, Susan Melvin and Mary Beth Weber, all of Ironton, Mary Jane Keaton of Flatwoods, Ky., and Lisa Karr and Mandy Alleman of Louisiana; nephews Phil Saunders of South Point, Kevin Saunders of Louisiana and David Saunders of Cincinnati. She will be greatly missed by Max, Ava, Mia and Rex Weber.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church with Fr. John Noe, a close family friend, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Monday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
