KITTS HILL — David Clay Maxwell, 65, of Kitts Hill, died Friday, May 21, 2010, at his residence.
The Oak Hill, W. Va., native was born Jan. 21, 1945, the son of the late Henry and Florrice Coleman Maxwell.
Mr. Maxwell was a graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill and was a U.S. Marine Corps. veteran. He was a former fireman with the Ironton Fire Department for 11 years and a former welder with CSX Railroad, retiring in 2002 and was of the Baptist faith. He was also a member of the VFW Post 8850.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Smith.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, David Wayne and Donna Maxwell of Kitts Hill; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew Scott and Melissa Maxwell of Maine; a brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Jennie Maxwell of Columbus; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Lodge Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Triplett officiating. There will be no public visitation. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
