For Kristine Keaton and Amber Keeney, Tuesday marked the end of an era and a whole new beginning.

The women are the two 2010 graduates of Open Door School. The school celebrated their successes with a ceremony that night.

“They both have been here since they were five and six years old,” Principal Kendra Kelley said of the women. “They’re a huge part of Open Door School. They’re beautiful young ladies that we’re going to miss tremendously.”

Keaton’s mother, Donna Keaton, of Waterloo, said her daughter is excited to move on.

“I like it,” Keaton said. “She does too. She wants to go straight into Tri-State (Industries).”

Amber Keeney will also go on to work at Tri-State Industries. Her mother, Tammy Runyon, of South Point, said her graduation is bitter sweet.

“I’m excited for her but then again I know I’m going to cry,” Runyon said. “I’m really excited for her. She’s had a lot of good years here.”
