Free business resource expo set for June 24

IRONTON — Small businesses and entrepreneurs will have an opportunity get free business advice.

The Southern Ohio Business Resource Expo will be on June 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at OSU South Centers.

The Ohio Department of Development Region 7 Governors Office, State Representative Ray Pryor and OSU South Centers are putting on this free seminar event.

There will be 5 different seminars that small business owners and entrepreneurs can attend: Business Planning 101, Access to Capital, Navigating Ohio Business Law, Region 7 Business Resources and Web Resources.

Each session is one hour with a rotating schedule.

Mark Barbash of the Ohio Department of Development will be the keynote speaker.

Megan Barns, an organizer of the seminar, stressed the importance of small businesses and entrepreneurs attending the event.

“It is a one stop shop to learn about all the resources available to them.”

Barns also said that the seminars are designed to make small businesses and entrepreneurs aware so they can grow.

Wage war on weeds with OUS

PEDRO — Ohio University and the Iron Furnace Cooperative Weed Management Area will have a Weed Warriors Workshop on Saturday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The workshop will be held at the Ohio University Southern Nature Center at Lake Vesuvius.

Participants will be able to get hands-on education in invasive species identification, control techniques, GPS and topographic map reading as well as habitat restoration.

Organizers invite you to bring your family and are providing activities for children.
