Clara A. Monnig Wilds, 91, of Ironton, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at her residence.
The Lawrence County native was born June 13, 1919, the daughter of the late Otto S. and Mary A. Boll Monnig. She is survived by her husband, Fredrick A. Wilds, whom she married Sept. 3, 1949.
Mrs. Wilds was a graduate of Pedro High School and St. Mary’s Nursing School in Gary, Ind. She was a former registered nurse for Lawrence County General Hospital, Bond’s Nursing Home, Dayton Malleable Iron Co. and Bryant’s Health Center, retiring in 1981. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pine Grove. She lived all her life in Lawrence County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Wilds; two brothers, Joe Monnig and Otto Monnig Jr.; two sisters, Mary Monnig and Patricia Monnig; a grandson, Fredrick C. Wilds, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Christina Wilds.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, Michael A. and Carol Wilds, Fredrick C. and Donna Wilds, Paul D. and Pam Wilds, Steve and Teresa Wilds, Patrick J. and Lisa Wilds, and Timothy and Sherry Wilds, all of Ironton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary A. and John Stewart and Margaret and George Bundy, all of Ironton; three brothers, Paul Monnig, Ted Monnig and Ambrose Monnig, all of Ironton; two sisters, Sister Regina Monnig of St. Paul, Minn. and Ann Summers of Cincinnati; 21 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father David Huffman and Father Tim Kozak officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
