SOUTH POINT — Pete “The Barber” Davenport, 72, of South Point, died Monday (June 21, 2010) at Hospice of Huntington in Huntington, W. Va. The Linnville, native was born Nov. 20, 1937, the son of the late Lloyd “Pat” and Anna Dixon Davenport. He is survived by his wife, Dottie Vannatter Davenport, whom he married July 9, 1983.
Pete was a graduate of Windsor School and was a self-employed barber for 50 years. He attended the First South Point Nazarene Church. He was a member of the VFW in Ashland and the Moose and Eagles in Ironton.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, John Davenport.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a daughter, Karhlee Zambos of South Point;
a son and daughter-in-law, Willis L. and Matilda Davenport of Kentucky; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty and Dallas Cumbow of Columbus and Genene Dixon of Hamersville; special nephews and a niece; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, with Pastor Charles Lane and Rev. John Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Aid Cemetery.
