ASHLAND, Ky. — Free health screenings, facility tours, prize drawings, inflatables for the children and snacks for all will highlight grand opening festivities 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at King’s Daughters Medical Center’s new Ironton Family Care Center.
Free health screenings will include both healthy heart and skin cancer screenings. Tony K. Virgin, M.D., will be available to review results with participants.
Appointments are required for skin cancer screenings, beginning at 9 a.m., by calling 1-888-377-KDMC (5362).
The 16,500-square-foot, two-level facility opened its doors to patients on June 14 at 912 Park Ave. to better meet the needs of its customers in Ironton and surrounding communities.
The staff from the original facility on Vernon Street moved to the new location, including Dr. Virgin and nurse practitioners, Gretchen Horner, Ronda Nickoson and Elizabeth Spurlock.
The Ironton Family Care Center features, in addition to primary care, on-site laboratory, X-ray and CT scan capabilities, mobile mammography, mobile MRI, and convenient hours and location – with the added benefit of support from the region’s healthcare leader – King’s Daughters.
Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
A Home Medical Equipment store is adjacent to the Family Care Center and operating hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Products include walkers, crutches, wheelchairs, orthopedic bracing, nebulizers, etc.
