WILLARD DEEDS

COAL GROVE — Willard Philip Deeds, 63, of Coal Grove, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born March 17, 1947, the son of the late Rev. Jennings S. and June C. Bryant Deeds. He is survived his wife, Connie Mader Deeds, whom he married Aug. 25, 1967.
Willard was a 1965 graduate of Dawson Bryant High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan for 1 1/2 years. While in the Army he served in the Military Police K-9 Unit. He was a former operator with Dow Chemical, retiring in 2009 after 19 years of service and was also a former employee with the Dayton Malleable Iron Co. He served on the Dawson-Bryant Board of Education for 10 years and was a member of the Coal Grove Lions Club, the N.R.A. and the American Legion Post #806. He helped start the Hanging Rock ATV Club and loved four wheelin. He was also a member of Zoar Baptist Church in Coal Grove.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Emerson and Betty Dutey Mader.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Deena Joelle Deeds of Coal Grove; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Sue Deeds of Westerville; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandee and Larry Brammer of Coal Grove; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rick and Therese Mader of Coal Grove.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Community Cemetery with Dr. Kevin Willis officiating. There will be no public visitation. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Military graveside rites will be by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova, W.Va. Pallbearers will be Rick Mader, Larry Brammer, Duane Deeds, Aaron Brammer, Tom Deeds, Shane Myers, Marty Higgins, and Dean Mader.
