HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Chester Lowell Webb, 88, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Hospice House of Huntington.
He was born Feb. 7, 1922, in Huntington, W. Va., to the late Thomas and Mabel Webb.
He was a U.S. Marine who served in the Iwo Jima Conflict during WWII for which he received a Purple Heart. He retired from C & P Telephone Co. and worked at McDonald’s as a maintenance worker for 20 years and retired at the age of 80. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents and four siblings he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Marie Dick Webb, and son, David Chilton Webb.
He leaves behind a daughter Nancy Ann Webb Bayless of Ashland, Ky.; and a son Eddie (Debbie) Webb of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, Andrew Huston, Adam (Mindy) Huston, Angela (Robert) Wright, Shellie Webb and Dr. David (Jennifer) Webb; five great grandchildren ,Jessica Huston, Ryan Huston, Matthew Wright, Emily Wright and Sarah Wright; one niece, several nephews and a special friend, Marie Scheff.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Dwayne Shugert. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Huntington, with VFW Post 6878, Proctorville, conducting military graveside rites. Visitation will be noon- 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home.
