WILLOW WOOD — A logger has died following a Wednesday morning accident in Willow Wood.

Two men were cutting down a tree near a home at 2648 County Road 62, when a branch from the falling tree entrapped one of the men, according to Jeff Hitchcock, chief deputy of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.

The injured man had to be cut free and was then transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The name of the man, who was in his 40s, is being withheld at this time, Hitchcock said.
