Rock Valley All-Stars romp, 15-0

PEDRO — One down, one to go, and a chance for more than one.

The Rock Valley Senior League All-Stars won their first tournament game as they routed the Wheelersburg All-Stars 15-0 Tuesday to get within one game of winning a berth in the regional tournament in South Bend, IN.

Rock Valley — a team combining players from Rock Hill and Symmes Valley senior leagues — needs a win Thursday against Wheelersburg to win the state title.

Rock Valley’s Morgan Schug didn’t limit herself to the number one. She pitched seven innings, struck out five, walked one and gave up three hits to get the win.

Offensively, Schug was 4-for-5 with two doubles and she drove in six runs. Kaelynn Ellis was 2-5, Hannah Maynard doubled and Courtney Duncan tripled as Rock Valley collected 11 hits.

Duncan tripled and scored on an error for the first run of the game in the first inning.

Schug had a three-run double to highlight a 5-run third inning as Rock Valley opened up a 6-0 lead. She also had an RBI double in the sixth and singled home two more runs in a 6-run seventh inning.

Thursday’s game begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Rock Hill Little League.
