A Facebook group (Ironton, Ohio) talks about iron ore having been mined around Ironton. I would like to know where any iron was ever mined, as I never heard of any iron mines around Ironton.

I suspect the iron ore was brought to Ironton from someplace else, and turned into pig iron from one of the many local furnaces. Can anyone shed any light on this?
