Senior citizens art show winners announced

LAWRENCE COUNTY — ­The artwork of local seniors was recently showcased at the Area Agency on Aging District 7’s (AAA7) 28th Annual Senior Citizens Art Show and Essay/Poetry Contest that was held at the Esther Allen Greer Museum and Gallery, located on the campus of the University of Rio Grande in Rio Grande.

Ohio residents age 55 or older were eligible to participate in the Art Show and Essay/Poetry Contest. Winners announced from Lawrence County include:

4th Place Oil/Birds – “Pretty Little Bird” by Karen Stapleton

5th Place Oil/Landscape – “Peaceful” by Karen Stapleton

1st Place Essay – “Missing Americans” by Helen Webb

2nd Place Essay – “Renewable Energy Engineering Policies” by Garland J. Monceaux, Jr.

2nd Place Essay – “Words for a Butterfly, Love Always” by Garland J. Monceaux, Jr.

1st Place Poem – “The Merry Go Round” by Norma Lee Fisher

2nd Place Poem – “Why I Read My Bible” by Helen Webb

3rd Place Poem – “The Day of Pentecost” by Edna L. Bundy
