CHESHIRE, Conn. — Joanne D. Gill, 77, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Connecticut Hospital in Branford. She was the wife of John “Jack” Gill.
Mrs. Gill was born Oct. 3, 1932, in Hanging Rock, the daughter of the late Charles and Louise Doty Davisson. She was a home economics teacher for both Cheshire High and Hamden Middle schools. She was also a communicant of St. Bridget Church.
Mrs. Gill’s family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Rutherford, Stephanie and the nurses at the Women’s Center at Yale New Haven as well as Dr. Sarfeh of Cheshire for their many years of care.
Besides her husband of 53 years, Mrs. Gill is survived by her sons, John and his companion, Barbara LaChance of Richmond, Maine, and Kevin and his wife, Hyeok, of Brunswick, Maine; her daughters, Susan Engelsman and her husband, Daniel of Millington, N.J., and Sandra Gill of Columbus, Ohio; her brother, Donald Davisson, and his wife, Lee, of Kitts Hill, Ohio; her sister, Betty Champagne and her husband, Ed, of Kettering, Ohio; and her three grandchildren, Joshua, Anna and Patrick Engelsman.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on July 2, at St. Bridget Church. Burial followed in St. Bridget Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St., was in charge of arrangements.
